Mike Newman
-Mike is from Ventura and while at Ventura High School was invited to attend then Ventura Baptist Temple. After several visits and a phone call from the Youth Pastor, he accepted Christ on March 21, 1974. He was later baptized and dedicated his life to full-time service. -Mike has served as Youth Pastor at VBC (1980-84), Youth Pastor at Ross Bible Church in Port Huron, Michigan (1984-94), Student Ministries Director at Troy Baptist Church in Troy, Michigan (1994-97), and as Senior Pastor at Ross Bible Church (1997-2004). He has most recently served as Associate Pastor and Interim Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church here in Ventura. Education: -Mike is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, as well as, Bethany Baptist College in Dothan, Alabama. He is also completing his Master Degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia -Mike is married to his wife, Denise, and they have two adult children, Staci (26) and Matthew (24). His interests include: golf, bowling, softball, scuba diving and traveling with his family. He finds it rewarding to see people respond to God's Word and choose to live in obedience to the Scriptures. Responsibilities at VBC: -Mike will supply leadership and oversight of our Children's Ministry, as well as, Pastoral care and direction to our 30 to 55 age group. |
